This grade has a matrix consisting of ferrite and pearlite with ferrite as the dominating part. This grade is a compromise between the relatively soft and very ductile ferritic iron with low tensile strength (EN-GJS-400-xx) and the harder and less ductile pearlitic iron with higher tensile strength (EN-GJS-600-3 and EN-GJS-700-2).
